Takie was born in the second year of Tengen (979) as the fourth son of Fujiwara Michitaka. His mother was Kiki no Naishi. His sister was Empress Sadako, the Empress of Emperor Ichijo, his uncle was Fujiwara Michitaka, and his father had served as Regent and Chancellor under his grandfather Kenke.
